Frequently Asked Questions About Rita

How old are you?

I’m older than children.  I may be a lot older because my hair has some gray in it.

Where do you live?

I live in Southern California, close to the beach!

Do you have any pets?

I have two cats.  One cat is 4 years old and the other one is almost 17 years old.  I also feed the birds outside, and lots of crows love that food, so I guess I have pet crows too.

Where is your favorite place?

The beach is my favorite place, because under the ocean there is a magical, wonderful world!

What inspired your love of the ocean?

My father, Ray inspired my love of the ocean.  He loved to scuba dive and had AMAZING stories of swimming with pods of whales, friendly sea otters, and huge sharks. One time he found a GIGANTIC Pacific Octopus, which he decided not to swim with.

What did you like to do when you were a kid?

I loved creating cartoon characters and writing stories about them.  Oh, and I LOVED going to the beach!

How did you come up with Dogfish?

Dogfish came to me in a dream.  I decided to bring him to life through my books.
